Sheltering Buffalo County's Homeless Families
For more than 30 years, Western Dairyland has operated homeless shelters in Buffalo, Eau Claire, Jackson, and Trempealeau counties for families with children.
Our single-family units may occupy our shelters for 30 to 60 days. Each shelter is completely furnished with bedding, furniture, cooking utensils, and cleaning supplies donated by the community. Each shelter is in a safe location, and every effort is made to maintain the families' privacy. Family members are referred to other Western Dairyland resources and community organizations for additional help.

How You Can Help
Our priority is to provide a safe place for homeless families with children to stay. Through a needs assessment, we determine what circumstances caused the family to become homeless and offer solutions to remedy the situation. Our long-term goal is to find permanent housing for each family.
Our Buffalo County shelter in Mondovi closed in 2022 due to budget restrictions. While we continue to assist homeless families in Buffalo County, the lack of a local shelter makes the job more complex and the outcomes less than ideal. With a local shelter, we can help families stay in their preferred community while allowing their children to stay in the local school district.
We aim to purchase a single-family home in Mondovi and re-open our shelter in 2025.
Make a donation, or contact us for more information. Our goal is to raise $250,000 and purchase a single-family house in Mondovi in 2025.
