Fresh Start Construction Site Supervisor

Job Description:

The construction site supervisor is the primary on-site person for the youth participants and is responsible for the progress of the participants as well as the house. The construction site supervisor coordinates construction activities for youth participants ages 16-25; serving as a mentor/role model to youth participants and teaches participants the skills necessary for the construction of a new house.

 

Primary duties include:

Mentor/Role Model:

  • Establishes positive relationships with the participants
  • Works with the participants and manager/teacher in the development of each participants individual development plan
  • Assists participants in working through personal development issues, and assist in conflict resolution within the team
  • Provide many opportunities for success in the construction site for participants
  • Assist participants in monitoring their individual development plans
  • Resolve worksite conflicts and promote group unity
  • Facilitate group problem solving activities
  • Coordinate construction activities
  • Develop a detailed construction plan and schedule

 

Construction Site Training and Supervision:

  • On-site supervision during construction of new house
  • On-site training, education, and counseling of participants in a manner consistent with pre-established goals for each participant
  • Oversee and enforce compliance with safety regulations, policies and procedures on construction site
  • Conduct regular safety inspections and audits to identify hazards, asses risks, and ensure adherence to safety standards
  • Provide leadership, guidance, and training to construction team regarding safety practices, protocols, and the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE)

Education and/or Experience

This position would prefer a college degree in construction, teaching, counseling or social work or 2 or more years of experience in the construction field and working with at-risk youth. A high level of experience in construction skills to complete the construction of 1 new single family home annually preferred.  The schedule for this position is Monday through Thursday (36 hour work week) and the starting wage for this position is $26.22 per hour.
