Construction Site Supervisor/Youth Mentor

Job Description:

Our Chippewa Fresh Start program provides education, employment skills, and career direction for at-risk young adults (ages 16 to 25) by involving them in the construction of a new house.  We're hiring a construction site supervisor who will oversee the construction of single-family homes, that are sold to income-eligible families, serve as a mentor/role model to young adults enrolled in the program, and teach participants the skills necessary for the construction of a new house.

 

This is a full-time, 40 hours per week position.  The hours are Monday through Thursday from 7:00 am - 5:00 pm based out of our Eau Claire, WI office.  The starting wage is $20.63 per hour.

 

Essential Functions: 

Mentor/Role Model

  • Establish positive relationships with participants
  • Work with participants and manager/teacher in the development of each participant’s individual development plan
  • Assist participants in working through personal development issues, and assist in conflict resolution within the team
  • Provide many opportunities for success on the construction site for participants
  • Assist participants in monitoring their individual development plans
  • Facilitate end-of-day group processing sessions
  • Resolve worksite conflicts and promote group unity

 

EDUCATION AND / OR EXPERIENCE 

College Degree preferably in construction, teaching, counseling, or social work or 2 or more years of experience in the construction field and working with at-risk youth.  High level of experience in construction skills to complete construction of 1 new single-family home annually
