ZEREAU is a collaborative effort between Family Promise of the Chippewa Valley, Beacon House, and the Western Dairyland Community Action Agency.
The Facts: As of March 2018, the city of Eau Claire has dozens of unsheltered families and hundreds of individuals classified as homeless. Source: WIBOSCOC 4/5/18
Current Programs: In Eau Claire, our emergency homeless shelters and homeless prevention programs are working hard and helping individuals and families every day, but they can't do it alone. Source: National Alliance to End Homelessness
Our goal is to end homelessness in Eau Claire by moving people directly from homeless shelters into permanent housing, and provide case management and support services. This type of program (known as Rapid Rehousing or Permanent Supportive Housing) has a success rate of up to 95%. Source: National Alliance to End Homelessness
We develop relationships with local landlords and help clients from Beacon House, Sojourner House, Western Dairyland Homeless Shelters and elsewhere move into apartments of their own. In most cases, rapid rehousing assistance is offered without preconditions - many issues such as employment, income, criminal records and sobriety will be assessed on a case-by-case basis and do not automatically disqualify anyone from participating in the program. Resources and services are tailored to the unique needs of the household as we move homeless families and individuals into permanent housing as quickly as possible.
