Homebuyer Education
Our HUD Certified Housing Counselors provide step-by-step assistance through the entire home buying process. We offer Homebuyer Education Workshops which meet USDA/Rural Housing, WHEDA and FHA requirements for homebuyers. Each two-day workshop consists of six hours of classroom instruction and two hours of individual counseling on topics including:
- Pros & Cons of Owning a House
- Understanding Credit
- Home Inspections & Appraisals
- Fair Housing Laws
- Getting a Mortgage Loan
- How to Shop for a Home
- Insurance (title, flood, homeowners, mortgage)
Western Dairyland has adopted the National Industry Standards for Homeownership Education and Counseling. These Standards help practitioners and organizations serve families and communities with consistent service and professional excellence.

Foreclosure Intervention
Due to funding changes, Western Dairyland's Foreclosure Intervention program is unable to accept new clients.
If you are having difficulty paying your mortgage or know you will have difficulty in the near future, act now. Call 1-888-995-HOPE to connect with a HUD-approved housing counselor. Go to www.foreclosurehelpandhope.org for tips on what to do to prepare.
Rental Assistance
Due to funding changes, rental assistance is not currently available through Western Dairyland. Assistance is sometimes available from the following agencies:
