Carol
Miller says she will never forget the moment her world came tumbling
down. "I felt so helpless and had no idea where to go for
help," she remembers. With the birth of her baby just three
weeks away, Carol and her three year-old daughter were suddenly homeless.
At the time, Carol says she was involved in an abusive relationship
with the baby's father and was forced out of the home they shared.
She went to stay with a friend, but on the day she was scheduled to
leave the hospital with her new baby, her friend called to say she
too had been evicted. Hospital volunteers suggested Carol call Western
Dairyland. With the homeless case manager's help, Carol and her children
were soon snugly situated in one of Western Dairyland's Haven Homeless
Shelters. |
